Not every failure is a same-night repair, and we'd rather tell you that upfront. Here's the honest breakdown of what we see most on evening calls.
Blown run capacitor — usually fixed tonight. The most common evening failure by far. The outdoor fan hums but doesn't spin, or the compressor won't start. It's a stocked part and a short repair.
Failed contactor — usually fixed tonight. Pitted or welded contacts stop the outdoor unit from engaging. Another truck-stock part.
Clogged condensate drain / tripped float switch — usually fixed tonight. In South Florida humidity, drain lines load up with biofilm and back up. The float switch does its job and shuts the system off to protect your ceiling. We clear the line, flush it, and verify the switch resets. If you're seeing water at a vent or the air handler, this is very likely your problem.
Frozen evaporator coil — diagnosed tonight, repaired after thaw. Ice on the lines means restricted airflow or low refrigerant. The coil has to thaw before anyone can properly repair it — anyone promising an instant fix on a frozen system is guessing.
Tripped breaker or blown fuse — depends. Sometimes a simple reset and a disconnect fuse. If it trips repeatedly, there's an underlying electrical fault that needs real diagnosis, not a reset.
